Silvercrest headphones

This is the third time i bought ear and head phones of this company form its main seller in Greece a German chain mega market. Their prices are quite good at 8 only Eu for this model . as usual this megamarket offers the audio products of this company only  a few times per year.
Having  already the older test of the SKH 60 C1 in mind i immediately understood that it was exactly the same model with  the only difference on the round plastic of the rear of the headphone.

My daughter already used the remain two earphones for short time after they have been damaged in  their cables from her furriness to do her next task until the one of the  ear was totally broken .fortunately the older model that was bought yeas ago still operates well with its very sharp audio , good for using with a poor sounded audio gear of the ..far past!

Let me now show you the model and compare with the previous 3 blogs before , a model i only tested and returned to its owner  . As noticed it is made in China as most models. It is a soft carton box with fair carton design and 3 years of guarantee. It will be tested by my daughter and me again.

As you can see from the photo  the whole headphone is in total black. It was the choice of my daughter .Τhere were also copies in red blue and pink, τhe color i could expect from her but she insisted to use the black color as with the previous copy.
The headphones are well designed with a simple and operating way. The over the head 'belt' has a cotton cover that does not annoy as far as it is used .I use headphones for more than one hour  to up six hours the older times.

The metallic base is also very operative that can adjust to any size of head and be very light. Its design  allows the headphone to turn for more than 180 degrees
The headphone is plastic made The pillows that attach to the ear are very soft and do not annoy your listening pleasure nor your ears. I can suppose that the previous copy tested 4 years ago was a bit more stiff than this

As you may see the earphones have an audio output for another user . I have tested them this way with the AKG512  but the audio quality drops.

This is an short phtoto overview of the headphones.I m closing it with a comparative A/B testing with my AKG 512
If we define the fidelity of the AKG as flat (it isn't exactly saying as it is bit bassy!)the Silvercrest are a bit sharper and little bassier ! However the span of the audio is nearly the same

They were tested with the 1103 Degen  radio  using the standard earplug and Silvercrest with the aux output.  Second test was in an old  analog Bolong radio.

Therefore i can suppose the headphones are nearly identical to the previous model i used

Update 21/3/21 Sad to notice the long use can annoy well my years. After one of the cables from my main Sennheiser earphones was cut after it fallen in the floor and dragged by fault by my feet  they wee the only I could use due to their smaller size good fit with an audio that is with less trebles . Other headphones  use are quite bassier or treblier and irritate my quite fast my head. Even that they are not so stiff in the head they can hurt the years after around 2 hours of continuous use from the pressure … I think you understand what I mean with that!

Silvercrest headphones SKH 60 C1 a tech review

Please look and  buy my book Malaysia 25 years research   http://goo.gl/Pi87gp   . As unmployed by buying this book you can support my family with the neesary income!

A friend of me has given several of his headphones for testing. These blog tests   start from this article and follow for the next two articles. As  my friend told me  he bought  this headphone  from a  international hypermarket  chain store  with ca 7 Euro  price which is still quite cheap  . He provided to me it with its full packing in contrast to the others mentioned in the next blogs as e.g. with the Tecsun models which were  given unpacked in a  plastic bag to me.

It seems that this brand has only one headphone model.  I can't otherwise think model with no product code mentioned in the carton box.

Its carton box is very nice in a black mat color. Very nice packing design with main product info in several languages including German English   Bulgarian Croatian Romanian and Greek. Manufactured in China it is imported via a German company and distributed (exclusively?) via this German hypermarket you guessed it. Unpacking it required to remove a plastic adhesive tape and then  open a stop lid   to open  the main box's carton lid .There was no plastic bag to contend  the earphones inside , but only the headphones which are included  together with the  user's manual (not removed from the box while testing it)

Only in the product guide the code number is only noticed.

The headphones have a very nice design are of closed type speakers with very soft plastic cushions to fit over the ear (circumaural). The top sleeve/ headband   have a textured sleeve to cover the head. It has an adjustable design using a double metallic rod to fold or unfold the speakers from the top hanger. Speakers ca even be folded to inside to save it space.

There is also a 3.9 connector socket on the lower part of the left speaker that adds connectivity to a second head- or ear-phone. The in between cabling is somehow thin comparing to the  system design with the hope that  it will not easily cut, should it come  into strong pressure  from any external reason.

The headband has a problem. It comes quite stiff to my head. It is quite tiresome for very long listening. I have to stop using it after 2 hours of continuous usage.

The cable has an excellent design with textile casing .outperforming in beauty over most other models which use simple plastic casing, even for AKG and competing brands. It is 2 mm thick and 150 cm long as measured that meets the noticed box info. All cables used in wiring the headphone system have the same kind textured coating.

Speaker:  In the carton box it is noticed that the speaker uses PET 40 membrane, a micro porous membrane that "meets   the best audio criteria used to introduce outstanding audio quality to your hearing experience". (This is mine's talking   using the language of advertising)

Usage: In order to listen and make A/B aural measurements I used a splitter to use a second headphone and tested it with my AKG K44 headphones.

In order to perform the comparison I used my Bolong radio listening to a station of ’extended frequency range' i.e. .the highest possible audible spectrum. This radio has possibly the best and trebliest sound of all of my radios I have or possess. Only a few FM stations can qualify this requirement (the highest spectrum). One of them is 104 FM (no ID still known) airing mostly ambient music at the time tested.

These AKG   headphones are quite bassy comparing to my other professional heads as Sennheiser and Koss and add at least 6 db in the lower frequencies over the remain. The same happens with the SKH Silvercrest model in terms of basses they are quite bassy as and very close to AKG's fidelity and spectrum.   Only the in ear phones cannot qualify this demand.

This headphone has very clear audio as AKG. Compared   with my AKG 'bassy' headphones  it has  the same audio  spectrum  in higher frequencies , It cuts the very low  -bassy-  frequencies ,giving a sense of 'shifting' bit higher.
Audio level is the same as with the AKG. .Anyway it gets too close with the fidelity of AKG D66 heads at a portion of AKG's   price (abt Eu35 bought 7 years ago). Important to notice  that  in order to  listen  to the best fidelity some added  volume is required  starting  from ca 60 db or you wall not hear the  full fidelity or  audio to activate the speaker.

My verdict: these headphones excel in design, component selection and also sound quality for their price 5/5.
Comparing to the AKG headphones they have a very narrow bass cut in the lower spectrum 4.5/5

Silvercrest SKD 1000A3 casete converter presentation

This is a  cassette player and converter  that just passed  my hands and returned back to the shop  bought it Lidl at a price of 22.5 euros ....

As you know  Lidl chain of supermarkets  every week  they offer news series  of products that are recycled  every half a year. Same happens to this nice and tiny cassette converter . Hoping that this small gadget could fulfill my interests in converting several cassettes  I bought it with  the hope that it could fulfill my interests : including a internal memory so that  recording  could be off computer . It was  a specification  not noticed in the box , so it was  the only reason  i boght to check into the users guide

Anyway i made a  very short check  very carefully  without opening any plastic paking in case i cold return it back.

Just opening its box the  following items were included:
A guide (easily unpacked from its wraper )  , the player , a USB cable , earphones  two batteries and a CD called Audiolava  that  is the  real time  converter
Unfortunately  no information was available for  internal  memory ! that means the  converter can only  convert on trhe fly with  computer via the USB ... Gosh  , it was  not my intention ... so is the reason to return it back...

The casete player can be easily removed from its foam wrapper  by carefully detaching the scotch tape

This is the picture of the  player with the cover closed .....

and  here witrh the cover open!

and here with a  tape for minimal test

Here are all the playback control buttons . ON top are the  direction button , playback , FF (fast forward), REW  rewind , the playback button and the  stop button

and aboveare the controls  for volume , USB   earphone and eject

and here is  how compares with  my Aiwa  tape player

For the sake of the  review i did a  very short  audio test by installing  two batteries from my collection and  used a company tape  (original commercial  recording  )

The SKD  required  at least two times press PLAY  so that it can start play . Otherwise ti seemed  as 'dead'!

Sound: sound is great ! (used  the Sennheiser  earphones  for the best possible audio ) and compares with the also great audio  from Aiwa with little more higher tones.

As Aiwa is quite old (13 years after  the purchase) that possibly means that the  speed is somehow  slower than the nominal. Checking the  speed pf Silvercrest over Aiwa , foe at about one 'hash' over (Mi note shifts  to Fa  in silvercrest )

While changing  direction on Silvercrest and  changing tape,  the direction  remains the same . That means  if the   tape is played in the  reverse (the B side  while the normal side is in A )and you change the tape  , the  tape is played on the reverse  side !

Maximum volume is relatively  low. compared  to Aiwa's  at least 25 db !  Its sound is still comfortable  with the Sennheiser   earphones

If  the player  had an internal  memory  i could keep it . Otherwise  it is very good  though with relativity  low though  sufficient volume.

silvercrest earphones!!

Silvercrest earphones

This is my latest  catch of earphones  found  and bought from Lidl several weeks ago The cost  was relatively low at €5
For this  price you get in a  plastic package

The earphones with put in buds plus  1,2 m of cable length
Two spare plastic ear sockets , a fat set and a thin set
A nice bag  for storing  your  buds
And a product guide  of ca 50 pages in several languages including English Greek and Magyar   (quite uncommon for models  of this type !)

And 3 years of guarantee !!!

Now about their efficiency, that depends on how stiff  you put  the buds into your ears  (for less or more bass)

Checking with  Sandisk earphones , their sound is  very low , close to 4-5 db and are more trebly
Same occurs with other bud type  earphones as AKG 909 etc

But to my surprise using it with Sennheiser HD417 http://gadgets-zliangas.blogspot.gr/2012/10/sennheiser-hd417-headphones.html
Their sound seems  very good very close to 417 with the same bandwidth , same bass excpt the middle tones which are  higher !!  (comparison between 417 and other buds yelds to same middle tone difference )

So verdict : 2/5 for their low audio output\
   4/5  for their fidelity
